In some cases, birds who suffer from PBFD show symptoms at first. But then, when they get older, the plumage gets better and the birds can lead a normal life even though they are affected by the disease. An example for this is the female budgie Joy. Her owner made some photos to show how the plumage improved.
Joy was born on the 8th of November 2008. By the end of February 2009 she moved to her owner Jasmin Störk.
