Firethorn Ripe berries of the firethorn (Pyracantha coccinea) can be collected during September and October. Because of their spiky thorns that grow along the branches it is not so easy picking them without getting hurt. Most parrot birds love those juicy little berries. You can serve firethorn berries on a plate or hanging on a branch. Don't worry, the birds will instinctively pay attention with the thorns.
