| Nourishing budgies appropriate to the species means to ensure a full supply with vitamins, amino acids and minerals. The daily diet of a budgie should therefore consist of grains, seeds, fresh food and in some cases of supplemental powders or liquids. These products are offered by companies who are specialized in bird or pet food. If birds get lots of different fresh food each day, they generally don't need supplements to keep them healthy. But if birds are sick, molting or recovering from a serious illness, it is advised to strengthen them by offering vitamin supplements or mineral powders. Your vet will surely help you if you have further questions on this topic concerning one of your birds. Each case is different, each bird is special, so it is not possible to give a general advice in this place.
