Anniversary birds: 16000th budgie

Berta It was a hot summer day when on 07/18/2006 Melanie Schlautmann who lives in Germany entered the name of the 16000th budgie into the stats. This special anniversary budgie is called Berta. Her owner is very proud of her and therefore she was wanted to introduce her bird:

"Berta is a second-hand budgie who came from the Saarland, a region in Germany. About 1 1/2 years ago she arrived at our place together with Tweety and Turkey. Meanwhile Berta is four years old and this lady has a perfect body. ;-)
She found the love of her life in our flock: our Charly. They are in love with each other and they share one very special behaviour: Both, Berta and Charly, have been living together with cockatiels at their former owner's homes. Therefore they can only chirp in the cockatiel language. It's so funny to listen to them talking to each other. 8-)
Berta is a very sceptical bird and therefore we sometimes call her Stasi-Dame*. ;-)
She eyes everything she doesn't know and often she plays tricks on us. And she is very clumsy and therefore we often laugh about her. Berta is not tame, but this doesn't matter anyway because I don't expect that from my birds. I just want them to feel fine."

* Stasi is the German abbreviation for Staatssicherheit which was the East German secret police. The Stasi kept the population of the GDR under surveillance. After the German reunification the crimes and mass surveillance of the Stasi has been investigated by German courts.
