Anniversary birds: 19000th budgie

LisjeThe German budgie owner Ina Rinck entered some budgie names into my stats on 12/02/2006. One of these names belongs to a very special budgie. This feathered lady is called Lisje. Ina is very proud of her and she was happy to introduce her anniversary bird:

"Lisje came to my place in August 2006 and she was accompanied by many friends. All these budgies have had a bad life before and they have just been rescued. At her former owner's place she was never allowed to fly and the nutrition was bad. That's why she suffered from a large lipoma and from scaly mites but she was a brave little girl and accepted the necessary treatment. Lisje had to learn to fly and she trained her muscles together with her partner Olli all day long. No 'crash' could discourage her or make her lose patience, she just shook her feathers and felt fine again.

The new diet which contained lots of fresh fruits and vegetable suited her well. I felt like she wanted to make good for what she had missed all the years before.

Today she is a daredevil and nothing is safe from her. In fact her lipoma will never completely vanish but the weight loss and the training increased her quality of life.

Regrettably I don't know how old Lisje is. All I know is that she is getting a bit long in the tooth. Nevertheless I hope that she will stay here at my place for a long time.

I would like to recommend adopting second-hand birds who have been rescued from bad life circumstances. Lisje is one of these special birds who show a lot of gratefulness and give back love. You really get rewarded each day."
