Anniversary birds: 29000th budgie

KollegeShortly after the new year has begun there was another anniversary concerning my stats of budgie names: On 01/02/2009 Mira from Germany sent me two budgie names. One of these names belongs to the 29000th budgie whose name you can find in the stats. This very special female bird is called Kollege what means "colleague" in English. And this is her story:

"When I was a child, my family owned a budgie named Pfiffikus. We loved this bird so much, and so we still love budgies today. Regrettably I haven't been able to keep budgies while I was a student since I haven't been at home the whole day long. And also my apartment was only about 16 squaremeters tall. Now I complete my teacher training, and that's why keeping an animal was out of the question.

But then my father bought a baby budgie for my brother who always had been telling how much he wanted to have one. The breeder kept ready exactly the colour variety my brother always wanted. So you can imagine that at Christmas 2007 we were all thrilled when we first saw this little fellow - it was love at first sight. Each and every one of us immediately loved the bird.

But as it turned out later, my brother and his girlfriend had already made plans to get two cats from the local animal shelter, so in January 2008 the budgie moved to our place. And of course we had to get a second budgie. My friend didn't ever own pets (apart from fishes in a garden pond), that's why it was his privilege to choose a bird from the breeder's flock. And now we own two yellow birds! Therefore the name Raps (a plant; rape in English) lend itself. Our birds keep us on the go with their twitter and they get along well with each other. They sweeten us our teacher trainings, and therefore I'm really happy about the fact that Kollege is an anniversary budgie!"
