Anniversary birds: 33500th budgie

FiestaBecause the last anniversary of my stats has taken place at Christmas in 2009, it took quite a while until the next anniversary happened in 2010. Many bird owners had to enter their budgie's names into the stats, but then, on 20/15/2010, the next anniversary took place. It was on Carnival Monday when Martina from Germany entered the names of her many budgies into the stats. Among these names was Fiesta, one of Martina's female birds. This very special budgie is the 33500th bird whose name is part of the statistics of budgie names. Martina was very happy to hear that Fiesta has become an anniversary bird. Here is her story:

"In March 2008, Fiesta became a member of my flock of budgies. Before that, she has been owned by a woman who has been 99 years old (meanwhile she is 101 years old). This lady hasn't been able to take care of her two budgies any longer. The staff of the nursing home and her son assumed that the poor little partner of my budgie had died of starvation... But I can't tell whether this is true or not!

When she arrived here, Fiesta only weighed about 30 grams and she looked quite neglected. But things changed fast and she settled in well.

The old woman's son thinks that Fiesta is the budgie whom his mother took here years ago when she moved to this place from Hamburg. The ring Fiesta wars also shows a mark for the province, so this assumption might be right. So Fiesta is about nine years old now.

I chose the name Fiesta because I thought that her life would be about to start and she could really enjoy it from that day on. Flying through the room with other budgies, enough grains and seeds and fresh food such as vegetables. Fiesta meand party!

But regrettably there is a sad part in this story: Last year, Fiesta has tried to lay eggs twice, and each time she needed a surgery because she became egg-bound. At the moment my vet treats her with hormones."
