Anniversary names: 5500th name

Alaton On 11/03/2005 I received the 5500th different budgie name. The proud owner of this very special bird who is called Alaton is Nicole Corica from Germany. Of course she wanted to introduce her feathered fellow:

"Little Alaton hatched in 1998 and grew up to a yellow-greenish English budgie. In 2003 he came into my life, because his former owner could not keep him any longer due to some problems caused by his cats. When he moved into my home Alaton was unable to fly and his plumage was seriously damaged. At first I thought he was suffering from a disease called the French Molt. I offered him healthy food with lots of vitamines and after the next two molts his plumage looked much better.

Still he was incapable of flight, and the avian vet found out that Alaton once suffered from a broken wishbone. Maybe he collided with something while he was flying around. Due to this injury he lost his ability to use his wings.

Today Alaton happily lives together with three other handicapped budgies in my bird room. He is addicted to millet sprays and he croaks like Kermit the frog. ;-)

I hope the very friendly, polite and even-tempered Alaton and I will be together for many more years."
