Security check of the swing Like her sister Sirius, Vesta was born in winter, she hatched from her egg on the 12/08/1996. Her parents Rhea and Umbriel took good care of their chicks and they grew up quickly. When my mother visited me, she immediately fell in love with young Vesta, so I decided to give my little hen into a new home after she became fledged. I knew my parents would take good care of Vesta, and of course I can visit my little one whenever I want to. But our goodbye was very hard for me because I liked Vesta just as much as I liked her sister. In the meantime, Vesta got a new name, my mother called her "Rübe". That means "turnip" in English what I personally don't like as a name for a budgie.

Vesta as a mature lady Right after arriving in her new home, Vesta felt comfortable there. She lives together with another budgie hen called Mausi. Up to autumn 2001, a third budgie was living together with the two feathered ladies, but my parents decided to give Sammy away and he moved to another family.

The photo on the right shows Vesta as a mature budgie in December '99. She turned to be a bit touchy when she came of age, but whenever I visit her, she comes to me, perches on my finger and wants to be caressed. Like her sister Sirius, Vesta is a Banded Pied and Yellowface mutation-II with Opaline drawings.

Meaning of the name
For the first time in my "budgie history" I named a bird after a minor planet, a so called asteroid, which orbits the sun together with the larger planets.
