The White Mulberry (Morus alba) is a member of the mulberry family (Moraceae) and it is native to China. In Central Europe, and thus in Germany, this plant species belonging to the is mainly found in parks. In addition, it is cultivated in some gardens. These trees can grow up to 16 meters tall. In some places, they are tended as hedges.

In summer and autumn, they produce their light, white-greenish, and later yellowish fruits. Some of them are pink or purple.

Budgies and other birds usually love to eat these sweet, juicy fruits once they have become accustomed to them. White Mulberries are also available as dried fruits. Some birds like to eat the dried fruits, others scorn them. This means trying them out to see whether your birds accept them as food or not. It is important to choose dried berries without additives such as sugar.
