White dogwood

The deciduous white dogwood (Cornus alba) can grow up to 4 m tall. The flowers of this plant species, which belongs to the Cornaceae family, are white and can be found in May and June. The pea-sized fruits usually ripen in August and September. They are whitish yellow to light bluish in color.

Many pet birds enjoy the pulp once they have become accustomed to the taste; the fruits (berries) can also be frozen. There is a small stone inside, which birds usually won’t eat.

This plant species is also referred to as red-barked dogwood and Siberian dogwood.
